NEW BULGARIAN UNIVERSITY
A group of higher education professors and researchers founded the Society for a New Bulgarian University in July 1989 with the goal of improving the country's higher education system. A resolution passed by the Bulgarian Parliament on September 18, 1991, granted the Society university status under the name New Bulgarian University.
NBU currently has one of the modern campuses around Sofia with a variety and diversity of specialities for bachelors, master and PHd degrees. One of the attractive aspects of this university is the modern methods of education where several departments plan trips around Europe funded by the university for educational purposes. The campus itself has 1 restaurant, 2 coffee shops, a modern library, a book shop, an emergency clinic, 3 public yards, a football pitch, an outdoor gym, a small museum and a social fun room. In addition NBU has halls, auditoriums, rooms, IT rooms and centre. A theatre is coming soon for students who study acting and filming! Currently there are close to 30 different faculties in New Bulgarian University.
The majors provided with english and french language are:
- Applied Foreign Languages for Administration and Management (in English and a second foreign language)- full-time and distance learning program
- Networking technologies (in English):
- Network Administration
- Network Programming
- Politics and society (in English)
- International politics (in French)
- Psychology (in English)
- English Language and Professional Communication (Joint programme with the University of York)
An additional option for students who enjoy travelling to eastern european countries is applying for the University of York which both universities have established programs where you get to study between Sofia, Bulgaria and Thessaloniki Greece! After your graduation, you will be granted 2 diplomas from both universities!
